Fringe

NA would be nothing without a friendly community. Our Fringe offers something for everyone. Can't wait? Join the NA Slack.

The NA publication

Take the conference with you

For each of our events, we produce an accompanying print publication for attendees (and a free PDF for the rest of the Internet). Within those pages you'll find all the essential conference info you'd expect, plus a few extras from the team, speakers, and volunteers. Initially a newspaper, we introduced a fresh magazine format in 2019 and can't wait to share the next issue with you.

Wed 22 Design Exchange

A welcoming warmup from DXN

Warmup Wednesday gives you the choice of a relaxed meetup, or lively bowling. Design Exchange provides a relaxed meetup on the eve of the main conference. You can look forward to talks, giveaways, and the usual welcoming atmosphere. It'll also be DX’s 4th birthday! The speakers will be Charlotte Dann, Creative Technologist/Founder at Hexatope, and Ben Longden, Digital Design Director at The Guardian. Entry is free, and there will be a bar for you to give NA the kick-off it deserves. Make sure to follow @DXNEvent and check out the DX site.

7pm–9pm at Antenna

Wed 22 JH Bowling

It wouldn't be NA without bowling

Our friends at JH will again present JH Bowling - the official bowling fringe event for New Adventures 2020. Register as a team of six or as a solo bowler to be in with a chance of winning a prize. If bowling isn't up your alley, come along and have a drink! Places are limited and selected on a lottery basis, so make sure you strike fast. Register now!

8pm–midnight at Nottingham Bowling

Thu 23 Outpost Coffee + NA

A flat white with your presentations?

Our friends Outpost Coffee Roasters fell in love with you lot at our last event, and we're delighted to invite them back. On conference day their stand will be serving up dreamy espresso and drip coffee. There are 650 of you, and they can only serve so many at a time, so regular coffee will also be available.

From 8:30am

Thu 23 Exhibitors

These booths are made for talkin'

Our exhibitors are always popular, and we’ve enough space for half a dozen booths for you to check out during the breaks. Meet our sponsors, check out some demos, sign up for services, buy more books, and get caffeinated on speciality coffee. Make sure you bring some spending money. Exhibitors will include Affinity by Serif, Smashing Magazine, Outpost Coffee Roasters and Geri Draws Japan. More TBA.

From 8:30am

Thu 23 Women in Tech

Don't miss the Lunchtime Takeover!

Get to know your fellow attendees by grabbing your lunch and coming to the lunchtime takeover. Back after 2019's fun and informative lightning talks, the takeover will enable you to meet other attendees in a relaxing, informal and light-hearted session; if you've come by yourself then this is the place to be to meet new people.

The takeover is brought to you by the team behind Women in Tech Nottingham, a monthly meetup for people from all areas of technology and those with an emerging interest in tech. WiT celebrates the women and gender minorities in our industry and doesn't exclude anyone, so you can enjoy this event no matter what gender you identify with.

Thu 23 After-party

We're back at the Contemporary

The stunning Nottingham Contemporary on the edge of the Lace Market is one of the UK's largest centres for contemporary art — and again we're making it ours! The party will take place in the roomy Café Bar; comfy, cosy, and conducive to conversation. There'll be free drinks on arrival, with equal emphasis on hard and soft beverages chosen by us.

7pm–midnight   •   No admittance without a name badge   •   Fully accessible   •   No under 18s after 10pm

Fri 24 Run Club

Laid-back loops around the river

Shrug off that after-party stupor and join us for a little run fun. At 9am we'll run our favourite 5K loop around the Trent Bridge area. Those who fancy a little more effort can repeat for the 10k. We'll run at approximately 7:00/km pace, which lends itself nicely to chatting. Anyone can join, and you don't need to be on Strava, but if you are please join our club, RSVP for the run ... and don't forget your kit!

9am   •   Wilford Village tram stop   •   Email us for a Strava run club invite

Fri 24 Nottingham coffee tour

Better living through coffee

If you need a post-conference caffeine boost to power through the weekend, come join our Nottingham Coffee Tour to check out the local bean scene. Guided by Geri Coady, she’ll show you the best speciality cafes that the city has to offer. We’ll meet at 10am and plan to visit 4-5 cafes with more details being announced closer to the date. The tour is free to join, but expect to pay for your own food and drinks.

From 10am

Fri 24 Fr00tball

Our slightly competitive football tournament

Yet again, we're offering you the once in a lifetime (it's already happened three times) opportunity to play five-a-side footy in a non-judgemental, diverse and often talentless environment where everyone is welcome. We provide the balls, bibs, liquids, and trophy. The accompanying building has a warm room we can gather in, and there are loos and changing rooms. Put your name down at fr00tball.com, or just turn up and play or watch. For updates follow @fr00tball. 2pm–4pm.
