Fringe

NA would be nothing without a friendly community. Our packed Fringe aims to offer something for everyone and reflect existing activity in our city. Can't wait? Join the NA Slack group.

The NA publication

Take the conference with you

For each of our events, we produce an accompanying print publication for attendees (and a free PDF for the rest of the Internet). Within those pages we feature articles and illustrations commissioned especially for you, plus all the essential conference info you'd expect. Initially a newspaper, we've a fresh magazine format for 2019 and can't wait to share it with you. Contributors this time include Paul Lloyd, Jordan Moore, Helen Joy, Chris Shiflett, and Rizwana Khan.

Wed 23 Design Exchange

A welcoming warmup from DXN

Warmup Wednesday gives you the choice of a relaxed meetup, or more manic bowling. As part of their third birthday celebrations and the return of New Adventures, DXN invites you to an extra-special evening featuring a talk from Valentina D'Efilippo, plus treats and surprises, and the usual welcoming atmosphere. Entry is free, and there will be a bar for you to give NA the kick-off it deserves. There might even be cake! Make sure to follow @DXNEvent and check out the DX site.

Wed 23 JH Bowling

It wouldn't be NA without bowling

When asked to be a part of the New Adventures 2019 Conference, JH took about 0.5 seconds to respond: "Sign. Us. Up."

Presenting JH Bowling - the official bowling fringe event for New Adventures 2019. To get the ball rolling, just register as a team of six or as a solo bowler to be in with a chance of winning a prize - and if bowling isn't up your alley, come along and have a drink! Thu 24 Outpost Coffee + NA

A flat white with your Ethan Marcotte?

The Nottingham coffee scene has exploded since our last event, and Outpost Coffee Roasters are our personal favourites. On conference day their stand will be serving up dreamy espresso and drip coffee. There are 650 of you, and they can only serve so many at a time, so regular coffee will also be available. We're excited to collaborate with Outpost on a custom roast for the conference, with our beans available in bottles to take home as a souvenir.

Thu 24 After-party

Bigger, better... and what a venue!

The stunning Nottingham Contemporary on the edge of the Lace Market is one of the UK's largest centres for contemporary art — and for one night only it's ours! The party will take place across two adjoining spaces: the Café Bar will be comfy, cosy, and conducive to conversation, while the breathtaking Space will lend its vastness to a more traditional party situation. There'll be free drinks on arrival, with equal emphasis on hard and soft beverages chosen by us.

7pm–midnight   •   No admittance without a name badge   •   Fully accessible   •   No under 18s after 10pm   •   Facebook   •   Read more

Fri 25 Run Club

Laid-back loops around the river

Shrug off that after-party stupor and join us for a little run fun. At 9am we'll run our favourite 5K loop around the Trent Bridge area. Those who fancy a little more effort can repeat for the 10k. We'll run at approximately 7:00/km pace, which lends itself nicely to chatting. Anyone can join, and you don't need to be on Strava, but if you are please join our club and visit our event page... and don't forget your kit!

Fri 25 Nottingham coffee tour

Better living through coffee

If you need a post-conference caffeine boost to power through the weekend, come join our Nottingham Coffee Tour to check out the local bean scene. Guided by Geri Coady, she’ll show you the best speciality cafes that the city has to offer. We’ll meet at 10am and plan to visit 4-5 cafes with more details being announced closer to the date. The tour is free to join, but expect to pay for your own food and drinks.

Fri 25 Fr00tball

Our slightly competitive football tournament

Yet again, we're offering you the once in a lifetime (it's already happened twice) opportunity to play five-a-side in a non-judgemental, diverse environment where everyone regardless of talent or length of shorts is welcome to play or watch. We provide the balls, the bibs, liquids, and a trophy. Fr00tball is always a lot of fun whether you're on the pitch or laughing from the sidelines. Oh, and for the first time ever there will be proper facilities with changing rooms! Visit the fr00tball site to register your team, or as an individual looking to be assigned to a team.

Sat 26 Peak District hike

Strolling into the weekend

Update: Cancelled due to adverse weather forecast. Whenever friends visit from afar, we like to share our fave area of the Peak District National Park, and we'd love to share it with you also. Sometimes called The Great Ridge, the stretch of path from Mam Tor to Lose Hill offers impressive views into two beautiful valleys. Pleasingly, the primary ascent from the car park is an easy, stepped path and the six-mile walk mostly unchallenging. It's a fun opportunity to chat with outdoor-minded attendees on one last mini adventure.

Weather-permitting: keep an eye on @naconf and this page for updates   •   Hike starts 10am, ends 3:30pm   •   Mam Nick car park   •   We hope to facilitate carpooling if there's enough interest   •   Facebook   •   Read more
