New Adventures in Web Design

Location

The Albert Hall

The Great Hall

Dating back to the 1870s, Nottingham's Albert Hall was once the city's largest concert hall and a major venue for political rallies. Even The Rolling Stones performed there in 1964. It's now an impressive conference venue, sympathetically combining traditional architecture with modern facilities.

The New Adventures... conference will take place in the magnificent Great Hall, which is famous for Mr. Binns' huge organ. We'll have the entire building all to ourselves, and refreshments and a packed lunch will be provided. Note that the venue is accessible for disabled users (read our accessibility statement for exact details).

The Albert Hall is immediately adjacent to Nottingham Playhouse and Anish Kapoor's mesmerising Sky Mirror. A short walk away is Nottingham Castle, The Castle Bar, and a statue of Robin Hood. A little further down the hill is the oldest pub in England, Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem. In the evening we'll all move on to the fantastic after-party. The venue to be confirmed shortly.

Directions

The Albert Hall is a fifteen minute walk along Maid Marian Way from Nottingham train station. Alternatively, you can hop on a tram at the station and alight at the Royal Centre stop, and walk from there (5 minutes).

If you intend to travel by car, note that there is no on-site parking, but there are five multi-storey car parks nearby. We have a deal with the Albert Hall to let you park for £5 all day at NCP Car parks on Mount Street and St James Street. Let us know if you intend to drive when you register. On the day, bring your car park ticket and receive a coupon at the venue.

If you're coming from further afield, East Midlands Airport serves many European destinations, and is a 45 minute bus ride away.

Nottingham

Nottingham Market Square

Situated right in the centre of England, Nottingham is the perfect location for a major web design conference. Lauded for its creative and scientific industries, art scene and culture, it's easy to make a case for rewarding the wealth of design and development talent in Nottingham, and the Midlands as a whole.

Obviously, Nottingham is perhaps most famous for the legendary Robin Hood and his Merry Men. A fun local pastime is to laugh at the tourists as they desperately try to find the castle that Kevin Costner obliterated, and to let them know that "it's in France".

If you're staying beyond the conference, be sure to check out the Old Market Square, the historic Lace Market, the scary Galleries of Justice, the impressive Nottingham Contemporary, or just potter the hours away in the multitude of pubs, or the boutiques of the UK's fifth-best shopping centre.
